Stephen Kirkwood (Director - Skapade Studios | Artist - Kunky)
Stephen Kirkwood has established himself at the forefront of the Scottish electronic music with releases on some of the biggest labels in the industry including Future Sounds Of Egypt, Blackhole Recordings and Respectre Recordings. Stephen also runs Skapade studios offering production training in various styles of electronic music as well as delivering workshops to the youth across Scotland visiting schools and colleges.
Hilary Brooks (Founder - Scottish Women Inventing Music | Musical Director | Artist)
Hilary Brooks is a multi award winning musical director, arranger and composer. She is the originating MD & Score Arranger for the stage musicals Sunshine On Leith and Glasgow Girls. Together with her long-term collaborator, the book writer & lyricist Clive King, they have written three musicals Melania, Wee Free! and Meeting Matthew and have a large-scale musical in development with the Citizens Theatre, A Matter Of Life & Death. Hilary is also the founder of network Scottish Women Inventing Music (SWIM) dedicated to achieving a level playing field for women across the industry.
Rebecca Vasmant (Artist / The Sound Lab)
In an age increasingly dominated by machine-created sounds, DJ-Producer Rebecca Vasmant is bringing a fresh new twist to dance music with her love of jazz. Rebecca is a passionate record collector and her knowledge exceeds her time as a "digger".
While promoting her own parties and record fair in Glasgow and touring over the last five years, her schedule has fitted in a six month tour with eight-strong Ghanaian outfit Kakatsitsi, presenting her radio show on Worldwide Fm showcasing the best in Scottish music, as well as working on her own live project 'Glasgow Jazz Experiment' which features world class musicians from The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, her talents are not only in playing records, but in composing and live shows also. Rebecca has already made a name for herself with her Era Suite residency at Sub Club, running a popular record fair with the venerable venue and a monthly spot on BBC Radio Scotland. A huge jazz fan, she also airs this facet of her irrepressible musical passion at key events like Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in Switzerland, Glasgow Jazz Festival, Jazz Cafe London, Kasheme Zurich, La Bellevilloise Paris, Casper Montenegro and the Baltic Soul Weekender. She is also set to host her own stages at many festivals this summer as part of her Era Suite party.
Rebecca’s activities have taken her to 22 countries in the last ten years, including spots in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Estonia, India, Africa, Nicaragua, Bosnia, Latvia, Dubai, Austria, Turkey, Switzerland, Serbia, Algeria and Bulgaria.'
Marc Sharpe (Academy of Music & Sound)
With 14 years in the music industry, Marc has primarily focused his career on Education and Training at the Academy of Music and Sound (Glasgow campus) and is currently the manager for marketing and recruitment for Scotland. Many of his duties at the Academy of Music and Sound have also included delivering lessons on Music Technology.
Marc has a varied experience within the creative industries ranging from working in A&R and promotions with companies such as; Island Records, EMI, Paramount Pictures and Disney. He has also worked at the BBC where he delivered classes within the BBC’s ‘Technology Hub’ to members of staff and worked on shows such as Children in Need, Scottish History Tour, Frankie Boyle, Rhod Gilbert and John Barrowman’s Tonights the Night.
The Academy of Music and Sound deliver courses nationwide in Music Performance (HND to MMus level) and continue to develop a range of notable Scottish artists still working in the industry now. Furthermore in both the Glasgow and Edinburgh centres they also offer a range of free short-courses in Sound Production, Songwriting, Employability and Social Media Development.
Sam Shepherd (Business Developer UK & Ireland PioneerDJ)
Sam Shepherd is the UK & Ireland Business Developer for PioneerDJ. Having spent over 10 years on DJing and production, he focused his efforts to the business and education side of the industry. He delivers presentations, demo’s and education on production, DJing and industry advise all over Europe. With varied experience working with different genres, artists and labels from the like of Craig David to KINK, Soma Records too Defected and many more. He has established himself from the ground up within the industry, as well as business across the UK and parts of Europe. He is also tech support from Production and DJing within PioneerDJ, working alongside some of the industries leading artists and businesses.
