Resonate Artist of the Week: Lo Rays (Premiere)

Lo Rays are an alternative-rock group based in Glasgow and preparing to release their energetic new single ‘Atom by Atom’ on 9th July.

Dynamic alt-rock and dark pop come together in Atom by Atom. Synths and heavy guitars blend into each other seamlessly, while dynamic vocals of Laura Takala lead the song to an explosive breakdown. Atom by Atom will be released with a music video that was filmed entirely by the singer Laura in lockdown. In the video she is picking up pieces of glass from her mouth, as the lyrics tackle distortion of self-image.

Finnish Laura Takala (vocals, guitar) formed the band after moving to Glasgow in 2018. Drawing inspiration from bands like Arcane Roots, Enter Shikari and PVRIS, Lo Rays’ music ranges from heavy breakdowns to haunting beats. With Ryan Jones (bass), Scott Bathgate (guitar) and Stephen Buggy (drums) completing the live sound, they have supported the likes of Saint Agnes, Estrons and the Glasgow-favourites Gallus and SNASH.
