Ticket Tailor Presents: Fair Business In Music

  • Resonate Scotland 23rd Precinct Music g40 2sb Scotland (map)

Speakers: George Follett (Ticket Tailor), Aly Gillani (Bandcamp), Eve Horne (Peak Music)

We hear from organisations who are putting artists and the arts before profits. In a world where it can feel like big corporations are taking their unfair share of income, these organisations are going against traditional business models in a bid to benefit artists and the wider music industry.

George Follett (TicketTailor)

George is Head of Growth at Ticket Tailor, a leading independent ticketing platform for events of all shapes and sizes. Ticket Tailor works with event organisers in over 150 countries - ranging from one-off supper clubs through to much-loved music venues and household festivals. Prior to Ticket Tailor George worked in various other tech and start-up companies, mainly in strategy and general manager roles. Out of work George is a huge music fan and aside from travelling to festivals in Cuba, Portugal and many in the UK, he's also DJ'd in such venues as "the kitchen" and "his lounge".

Aly Gillani (Bandcamp)

Aly Gillani is the European Label Rep for Bandcamp, a thriving, global music community where fans discover new artists, intimately connect with them, and directly compensate them for their work. Aly’s role involves expanding and managing the growing network of labels and artists using Bandcamp to connect with their fans.

He is also the founder / A&R for Worldwide Awards Label of the Year First Word Records, home to Children Of Zeus, Tall Black Guy, Eric Lau, Kaidi Tatham, Tawiah and many more. Originally a club promoter he ran seminal clubnights Funky Mule and New Bohemia in his adopted city of Leeds for many years. Starting First Word in 2004, he is also an acclaimed DJ with regular spots at a host of European venues and London radio stations Balamii and Worldwide FM.
