A patron funded not for profit record label, Last Night From Glasgow are an ethics first business who believe in gender equality and fair pay for all. Join label head honcho Ian Smith alongside LNFG signees Amanda McKeown (Sister John) and Duglas T Stewart (BMX Bandits) as they talk about LNFG’s unique business model and how to they continue to thrive with sustainability, socialism and sense at their core.

Ian Smith (Last Night From Glasgow)

Ian Smith - founded LNFG in 2016, he has guided the label to the position of being one of the UK's largest independent record companies, whilst keeping a focused eye on the ethics and fairness of how the label operates. LNFG is now home to established acts such as The Skids, The Bluebells and Trashcan Sinatras whilst continuing to champion young talent such as Brontes and Kilgour. Ian now provides support to students in the music business course at UWS and continues to innovate and develop new avenues for LNFG and their artists.

Amanda McKeown (Sister John)

Amanda Mckeown formed Glasgow band Sister John in 2016 and shortly after doing so, she was singed by LNFG. In the last 6 years Sister John have released 3 LP's, numerous singles and enjoyed sizeable critical acclaim. Recognised 3 times by BBC Scotland with Record of the Week and similaraly thrice selected by The Roddy Hart Show as "Record of Note" Sister John have also enjoyed plays from the likes of Guy Garvey, Gideon Coe, Amy Lame and Hannah Peel. Sold out shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London and a mini tour with The Bluebells in 2021/2022 cemented the bands position and highlighted Amanda's songwriting craft. In 2021 Sister John enjoyed some worlwide recognition when their single "I'm The One" was featured prominently within the Netflix show "The Outer Banks"

Duglas T Stewart (BMX Bandits)

Since 1985 Duglas has been the leader and chief songwriter of BMX Bandits, who The Guardian called !Britain"s ultimate cult group”. Kurt Cobain famously said !If I could be in any other band, it would be BMX Bandits”. BMX Bandits have released 16 albums internationally. Duglas has collaborated with music legends including Dan Penn, Chip Taylor, Alex Chilton and Kim Fowley. The latest BMX Bandits single Razorblades & Honey is a collaboration with Anton Newcombe of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Hifi Sean. Duglas is also very experienced in the world of broadcasting, having been a producer, A.P. and music consultant on BBC television output including The Beat Room, Top of the Pops Saturday, Comedy Connections, The Saturday Show and T in the Park (live coverage). In 2013 and 2014 Duglas co-wrote and played one of the leads in the Tartan Features film Wigilia. The film was screened at festivals across the U.K., in the U.S.A. and Poland. Duglas recently completed his first movie score, for the Independent psychological horror feature film Dreaded Light. Dreaded Light is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video in the U.K. and U.S.A. Duglas and BMX Bandits are subjects of the acclaimed documentary features Teenage Superstars and Serious Drugs. BMX Bandits were featured in the 2018 National Museum of Scotland exhibition on the history of Scottish rock and pop, Rip It Up, and the accompanying BBC TV series. In 2022 started as the head of the music division of the Glasgow based media company Rebel Loop Studios.
